About Dr. David Bloch, OD
Dr. David Bloch has been practicing Adult and Pediatric Optometry in San Diego County since 1997. He is qualified to treat both simple and treat complex conditions of the eye ranging from eye infections, eye allergies, and eye pain to the diagnosis of cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. He is well known, by the public and the medical community, for precise refractions and highly accurate prescription eyewear. He also has extensive background in the treatment of eye muscle disorders, which impacts focusing, visual tracking, and visual processing skills. He is one of the few doctors in the country that treats dyslexia and other reading disabilities in both children and adults.
Dr. Bloch received his degree from Illinois College of Optometry in 1988 and graduated Magna Cum Laude. His post-doctoral work included a residency in Pediatric Optometry at the University of Houston, College of Optometry, where he subsequently taught as a clinical instructor for the pediatric, contact lens, and general optometry departments. Additional training in low vision disorders was acquired during his internship at the Illinois Visually Handicapped Institute in Chicago where he worked with patients suffering vision loss and partial vision. He has extensive knowledge about the treatment of lazy eye, and has chapter published on the subject in the book Problems in Optometry. His training has rendered him one of the most knowledgeable adult and pediatric Optometrists in north San Diego County.
Dr. Bloch is a member of the American Optometric Association, College of Vision Development, and NVISION Laser Eye Centers. He holds Therapeutic Optometry Licenses in four states for the treatment of surface ocular disease. He owns and operates Children's Optometric of North County, a unique eye care facility dedicated to the development, correction, and rehabilitation of eye problems in children. Dr. Bloch also owns and operates Reading Without Limits, Inc., a company that helps solve both simple and complex solve reading problems for anyone behind in their reading skills. By using his new medically based testing and treatment strategies, struggling readers can learn to read, improve their reading skills, and reverse their dyslexia quickly and easily.
Dr. Bloch resides in Carlsbad with his wife and two children. He enjoys racquet sports, biking, science fiction movies, strength training, sports cars, and just about any kind of brain teaser or puzzle. He has been a semi-professional magician since his teens and regularly performs magic tricks for family, friends, and patients when time permits. His showmanship has made him popular with pediatric patients and keeps them cooperative during the exam process.
